Infrastructure

Infrastructure is key to making growing cities work, particularly as they grow in a changing climate. Urban populations rely on different types of infrastructure every day to live. Critical aspects of infrastructure include water supply, sanitation, electricity, housing, and access to fuel for cooking, and need to be effectively integrated into urban planning. Some urban infrastructures are hidden from sight, such as sewer lines, septic tanks, toilets and drains, but need to be well planned and maintained. I can offer support to find appropriate methods to engage with people with overlapping multiple challenges, understand their unique perspectives on how infrastructure can be delivered to meet their needs, how to mitigate the impacts of climate change on infrastructure and those who use and maintain it, and to work with authorities to integrate these infrastructural needs well. Infrastructure that works for the most disenfranchised groups with multiple issues on the fringes of society will have benefits for all and create livable urban spaces.
